Factors To Consider While Buying The Best Laptop

So, how many of you want to purchase the laptop or just planning to purchase, oh if you already have it then why not join the cause and empower your friends or relatives when they will be buying it, after all you should bring out the smartness out of you. So, let’s check out what are the top and the best tips which you should consider before going and buying the laptops as we will be discussing in the due course of the time.

Warranty:

First and foremost thing which you will have to consider is the warranty, many of us love to get things from other countries like US, UK etc. but actually truly speaking many of the laptops which are bought from there face many issues as you need to opt for worldwide warranty while purchasing the laptop and then next up even if you have opted for worldwide warranty and if any part gets damaged, you need to order the same via service centre, if its launched then not a problem as it will be fixed soon but if it’s not launched in your country then you will have to wait till the part is imported which will be at higher cost and also secondly you will have to wait for a longer time. Also, if you are purchasing the laptop from within the country the all the Laptop manufacturers offer standard 1 year warranty which can be extended by paying extra money.

Cost:

Cost matters a lot, after all you are investing your hard earned money, so always ensure that you don’t over pay for the laptop, compare the prices across all the Laptop makers and also the place from where you are purchasing as many times some of the electronic mega stores offer hefty discounts, all you need is bit of a time for exploring all these or else you will end up paying more for the Laptop.

Processor:

It has been found that many of us tend to over pay for the processor just to ensure that we have the best, but the thing is if your day to day activities on the laptop doesn’t need that much of processing speed then why pay for the unused processing capabilities. If we talk of the latest, then Intel has come up with three main core options like i3, i5 and i7. Though i7 is for all who are into hard core graphic designers and for the people who are completely into animation and for gamers i5 is the most recommended one. Considering the fact that i7 costs more than i5 and i5 more than i3, you should fit in the requirements and then choose the appropriate processor rather than paying for the unused.

Screen Size:

Many of us want to have bigger sized laptops but make sure that the bigger the screen size, the higher will be the battery consumption as the battery will have to power the larger screen. So, it’s always important to choose a laptop which suits your needs which means that you should choose a size which is recommended that is either the 14 inches or the 15 inches, anything more than this will be quite bigger, and always try to compare the sizes by keeping them side by side which you can do it in an electronics mega stores.

Battery and Memory:

Battery and memory are the two key aspects as in battery there are options like 6 cell and 9 cell, it’s always preferred and recommended to buy a 9 cell battery model as that will give the better battery life and also you need to ensure that battery doesn’t heat excessively while charging as some of the laptops charge with very much of heat which may even hamper the components as more heat is not good for some critical electronic components which are located near to the battery inside the laptop. Also, if we talk of memory the 500 GB hard disk size is a recommended but if you want higher than this then you need to check with that whether you will be actually be making use of it or else there is no sense in paying for the unused.

How To Backup G-Mail Data?

Creating a backup for your Gmail account is really essential. Today we are going to be introduced with some of the various ways to do so.

Gmail Backup: Gmail backup is one of the free programs that do exactly what it says, saving messages to a folder on your computer. It is programmed automatically to skip downloading messages that you have previously backed up, though to save time you can set it to only check messages since a particular date you wish to.

Backupify: This is a very simple automated program online backup that can store all the data from Gmail, Facebook, Twitter and other services. Unlike the registered version the free option has a limit of 2GB of data of storing.

TrueSwitch: This is one of other simple methods. True Switch is actually a Microsoft tool for automatically copying messages from one account such as Gmail to a Hotmail or Windows Live Mail account, without deleting the originals. As it is a time consuming method the best use would be to copy across all previous messages once, and then set up forwarding as above. So obviously this is only a solution for when Gmail goes down but it cannot be used when the problem is that you are without web access.

Using The Forwarding Option: After going into the settings menu, you can use the Forwarding option and POP or IMAP setting to automatically forward a copy of all messages to another account, or you can filter which messages should be sent.

HTC EVO 3D Takes Smartphones Into A Whole New Dimension

The EVO 3D is one of the first dual core smartphones from HTC but is more noteworthy for being one of the handsets to introduce 3D technology to the mobile phone market. Although 3D has been around for many decades it has only been in the last few years that it has achieved mass appeal with movies such as Alice in Wonderland and Avatar being huge 3D box office hits. Electronic giants like LG and Samsung have capitalised on this by introducing 3D televisions and even Nintendo has got in on the action with the Nintendo 3DS.
3D Screen Technology

The only smartphone to attempt 3D before the EVO has been the LG Optimus 3D. While the EVO uses a similar 3D screen technology to its LG counterpart it provides a number of improvements over the latter device. With a similar 4.3″ screen the EVO offers a superior screen resolution of 540 x 960 and runs on Super LCD technology.

The EVO 3D operates on the same parallax barrier display technology as the Optimus 3D and the Nintendo 3DS. While this does not offer the same true 3D experience as found in cinemas it has the benefit of not requiring 3D glasses for its use. The only drawback is that the 3D effect is limited to certain viewing angles which some people may find annoying if they are attempting to engage in some 3D activity for an extended period of time.

3D Cameras and 1080p Video

The EVO 3D does not just allow you to view 3D content on its screen but you are also provided with the ability to make your own 3D content with its dual 5 megapixel cameras. With these you can record high quality 720p 3D videos and capture stereoscopic images to enjoy. Alternatively, you can still take standard photos and record 2D videos in the higher quality 1080p, and the EVO 3D is one of the few phones to offer this full HD video recording feature.

Dual Core Android

With a dual core 1.2GHz processor the EVO 3D is the fastest smartphone currently around and this is greatly complemented by 1GB of RAM. The handset runs on Android Gingerbread and comes with HTC’s Sense user interface that offers superb social networking integration and is consistently chosen as one of the best Android interfaces around. Thanks to the Android operating system there is much more on offer with the EVO than just its 3D content, with many excellent messaging and entertainment options on offer.

Entertainment and Connectivity

The EVO comes with access to Android Market where you can acquire many great apps and games, and also comes with support for Adobe Flash and online video content from YouTube. The larger screen of the EVO makes it ideal for general web browsing too, with 3G and Wi-Fi connections making it easy to get online whenever you need to. The EVO’s Wi-Fi also comes with DLNA support, allowing you to hook the phone up to compatible devices. This could include televisions, including 3D televisions, with the HDMI port also providing an additional means of streaming video content through a home television.

To Sum Up

When it comes to entertainment the EVO 3D is unrivalled with good music and video options as well as being a great way of making the most of the web while on the move. Although some people may accuse 3D of being a gimmick the EVO still offers more in the 2D department than most of its leading competitors. It is also worth bearing in mind that cameras and music players were originally accused of being mere gimmicks and have since become standard features on virtually all smartphones.

Types Of Computer Viruses And Worms You Probably DON’T Know!

Computer viruses are created for infecting the information and the rest of the computer. It is actually a computer program that is intended to create such uncertainties. The first theories on computer virus were done by John von Neumann in the year 1949. Since then the computer viruses have been a menace to the computer users. Some of the impacts that the computer has on the computers are impairment of certain computer programs and applications after which you may not be able to employ the software. There are also some viruses that are meant to corrupt a few files that may be important for your business, etc. There is also a possibility for the system to crash as well. Here are a few popular types of computer virus.
Resident Viruses

This is a type of virus that stays permanently in the RAM memory. It is from this memory that the interruptions of the rest of the computer programs are affected. It can be compared to the direct payload virus as it does not insert itself into the system’s memory but takes action only when an infected file is executed.

File infector virus

This virus, as the name suggests is the type of virus that is meant for the infection of the file. This infector takes refuge in the host and then works out when the file is executed. The file may either be overwritten or a few parts being replaced.

Boot virus

The hard disk or the boot drive of the computer is affected due to this virus which forms the important part of the computer where the whole of the information is stored. One of the best tips on how to prevent computer virus of this type is to make sure that you use write proof floppy disks and remember not to start your computer with an unknown floppy disk in the drive.

Macro Viruses

These types of viruses are generally scripted into common application programs like Excel and Word to infect the other documents. The program is not written in the language of the operating system but that of the application. The macro virus spreads to the other parts when the application is running. There are numerous macro viruses present and each of them is a great threat.

Worms

This is also a program that makes and distributes the copies of itself from one disk drive to another or using emails to copy themselves and transport the mechanism. These can cause serious threats to the computer security.

An Overview of LG’s First 3D Smartphone – the LG Optimus 3D

So the big question in mobiles at the moment is: 3D or not 3D? Well LG, who are always eager to latch onto new technology, have released their LG Optimus 3D. So are the Korean wonder kids onto something, or is 3D a fad just as the cynics suggest?

On first appearances the new Optimus is like any other phone, if maybe a tad thicker than some. The phone has a generous 4.3in screen and comes in the usual smart phone black we’re all accustomed to. The phone is large and maybe a bit heavier than most smart phones we’re used to. Coming to life, the screen is a bright, crisp affair, as we’ve come to expect from LG.

The Optimus 3D has a dual core 1GHz processor so you can be pretty much assured it doesn’t lag, it will also run the latest version of Android 2.3 after it gets an upgrade on release.

So how does the 3D look? Well, in short, very good. Initially the fact you’re looking at the screen in 3D without glasses will awe you. The LG’s 3D is showcased in its 3D hub where you can access its 3D games and video. The games look impressive, the characters and indicators rise from the screen when you’re directly in front and the screen offers colour depth and clarity. If your eyes are aside from the display though, it does not work- users of the Nintendo 3DS will be familiar with this.

Possibly the LG’s cleverest trick is its dual recording 3D camera, allowing you to live every bit of your life in 3 dimensions, record it and show it to whoever you wish in 720p quality. The camera also allows users to record 1080p in normal 2D mode. You can upload footage directly to YouTube in all three dimensions if you want your antics to be seen further afield.

You can also turn off the 3D or even lower its strength according to your needs, some people hate the feeling of 3D and for others it causes headaches, so this is welcome and wise attachment.

The phone itself is a very nice little device even aside from the 3D and offers all the accessories and pleasure of using a normal LG smart phone, albeit a little heavier. The phone’s interface is nice and Android and apps run very smoothly with the powerful dual core.

Overall, the LG Optimus 3D is a great device and the 3D a great extra. We think this is important, because whether or not you see the 3D screen as a gimmick, the Optimus 3D has plenty to offer. We can certainly see ourselves buying the LG for its overall abilities not just the 3D ones.

Chromebook: Understanding its benefits and limitations

Google has recently made their official release to the public on the Google Chromebook and Chrome OS operating system. With this release, there are many questions as to what exactly this laptop does.. And more importantly what it cannot do

To quickly summarize the Chromebook — it is very inexpensive alternative to typical desktop and laptop computers. Its main function is to access the web and it stays true to this. Everything you do on the Chromebook is web-based, or rather “browser-based”. Therefore everything is done in the “cloud”. The OS does not run like your typical home computer and nothing can be saved or accessed through the desktop. It’s like opening up your Chrome browser from your Macbook and never leaving it..
If this seems limiting to you, maybe that’s because it is. All of your downloaded applications like Photoshop and excel are not accessible from your Chromebook. The flip side is that Google’s vision for web based programs and cloud computing is taking stride and there are a myriad of wonderful web-based apps for you to work with. Cloud based computing is nothing new and most of us deal with it in some way or another everyday (think gmail, docs, facebook, flickr, etc…).

Let’s take a look at some of the main benefits to Chromebook:
Instantly Connected: Turn on your Chromebook and access the Internet within 8 seconds! This incredibly fast load time is a result of the simplistic approach from Google. Additionally, as the book automatically updates itself it should theoretically only become faster as time goes on.
Always Connected: With build in Wi-Fi and Verizon 3G mobile broadband, this thing is always ready to browse. This is no surprise as the laptop’s functionality is severely restricted without the Internet.
Always the same experience: Being that everything is cloud based, you can simply sign into another Chromebook to retrieve any and every bit of information you have stored. Rather nifty if you happen to misplace or forget your laptop!
Decent Web-Apps: This arena is sure to grow exponentially and for now there are a number of quality web-based apps to facilitate most computing needs.
Security: Boasting the first computer operating system to be built from the ground up to defend against malware and viruses, Google’s notebook may prove to be more secure than even Macs.

The benefits are rather straightforward and easy to understand. If you want a fast, web-based operating system that is always connected, Chromebook has you covered. Now let’s take a look at some of the negatives as discussed by the industries early adopters:

The most obvious is that of cloud storage. Many people are still quite uncomfortable hosting all of their information elsewhere. While the industry has yet to showcase its full capacity to prevent security breaches, cloud based applications are used by some of the world’s largest companies. Web-based maintenance management software is also used to handle delicate customer data all over the world.

Compatibility with your other applications seems to prove quite difficult on the Chromebook. While Google maintains that virtualization is the solution, it is not clear how it will be handled at this point.

Fast Internet connection is a must when operating your Chromebook. Without it, processor speed and memory won’t get you anywhere in the cloud based world.

File compatibility is also a bit of a drag given that the operating system does not recognize all of the file extensions that a normal computer would. Ex: m4v, mov, wmv, etc.

To sum it all up — Chromebook is a valid alternative and great change of pace if you work mostly through the web. On the other hand, this laptop is likely never to replace your standard machine if you consider yourself a computer power-user. As with all innovative products in the tech field, it is up to the consumer to chose if the product provides sufficient functionality and value.

Apple iPhone 5 vs Google Nexus Prime

wo of the more anticipated smartphone devices to be released in the near future are the Apple iPhone 5 and the Google Nexus Prime. We take a speculative look to determine which device has more potential.

Dimensions and Form
There is currently no officially released information regarding the dimensions for either the iPhone 5 or the Nexus Prime. It’s likely, however, that both devices will not deviate from their predecessors in terms of style, with the only alterations coming in the form of thickness and weight. Although typically newer generation phones tend to be lighter, it’s realistic that given the push toward dual core architecture and larger screens, both devices will be larger than earlier models.

Some rumors predict the iPhone 5 will return to its roots with an aluminum back panel, while keeping the physical home button in lieu of gesture controlled navigation. The Nexus Prime, on the other hand, is opting for no buttons to give more space to the Samsung developed Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen.

Winner: Draw

Display Screen
• Apple iPhone 5 – 4 inch, 960 x 540 Retina Display
• Google Nexus Prime – 4.7 inch, 1280 x 720 pixel resolution with Samsung PenTile Matrix Technology

It’s highly unlikely that the iPhone 5 will need to do much as far as improving the quality of their retina display, as the iPhone 4 currently boasts the best display of all portable devices. The Google Nexus Prime is attempting to up the ante, however, with a 720p resolution normally reserved for high definition TVs. Despite the lower resolution, the pixel density remains relatively equal and the Retina Display probably helps maintain Apple’s dominance in screen technology.

Winner: Apple iPhone 5

Processing Power and Memory
• Apple iPhone 5 – 1GHz dual core ARM processor, 512MB RAM
• Google Nexus Prime – 1.5GHz dual core TI OMAP4460 CPU and a PowerVR SGX540 GPU, 1GB RAM

The iPhone 5 figures to be Apple’s first dual core smartphone, part of a new trend as manufacturers find ways to fit the powerful architecture into smaller and smaller device. The Google Nexus Plus is no exception, featuring its own dual core TI OMAP4460 CPU. In fact, if the rumors surrounding the iPhone 5 are true, the Nexus Prime has it beat in both processing power and RAM, with 1.5GHz and 1GB respectively.

Winner: Google Nexus Prime

Storage Capacity
• Apple iPhone 5 – 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB options
• Google Nexus Prime – 32GB plus Micro SD support

As with earlier devices, it’s likely the Apple iPhone 5 will be offered with at least 16GB or 32GB. As a newer model, it’s probable that Apple will also sell a 64GB product as well. The Google Nexus Prime will likely have a 32GB option standard, with Micro SD support for those who wish to store more data.

Winner: Draw

Operating System
• iPhone 5 – iOS 5
• Google Nexus Prime – Android Ice Cream Sandwich

The iPhone 5 will be delivered with iOS 5, the latest version of Apple’s mobile device platform. The update will come with over two hundred new features including a Notifications Center to remove annoying pop-ups, the iMessage service similar to the BlackBerry Messenger, and a revamped mail app. The iOS 5 Safari browser has been further tweaked to add better performance to its Nitro Javascript engine, and as part of their ‘PC Free’ campaign, iTunes no longer has to be tethered to a computer to update.

Nexus Prime comes with its own updated software as Google releases Android Ice Cream, a software intended to unify all previous builds into one master operating system for all tablets and smartphones. THe update will come with a new app launcher, better tab browsing, a redesigned interface, and enlargeable widgets.

Winner: Draw

Camera
• Apple iPhone 5 – 8 megapixel camera
• Google Nexus Prime – 5 MP primary camera with 2560 x 1920 pixel resolution, 2 MP secondary camera

Details regarding the Nexus Prime have emerged, including the ability to capture video at a stunning 1080p. The 5 megapixel camera will be loaded with auto-focus and a digital zoom, supplemented by a 2 megapixel camera for video calling. Speculation for the iPhone has it delivering an 8 megapixel primary or a 5 megapixel camera with improved sensors.

Winner: Google Nexus Prime

Conclusion
As much of the information is still speculation, the advantage Google Nexus Prime has may simply be a matter of ignorance regarding the iPhone 5. Given Apple’s history, it would not be surprising if the iPhone 5 ultimately blew away the competition, but as of now the race looks to close to call.
